The Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) is a unique addition to any bonsai collection. As one of the few deciduous conifers, this Lowcountry native tree is known for shedding its needles in the fall, giving it a distinctive "bald" appearance. Naturally found in the saturated soils, swamps, and stream banks of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains and the Mississippi Valley, the Bald Cypress thrives in a range of conditions.
