The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) is a semi-deciduous tree with small, serrated leaves, which typically do not drop in the Lowcountry climate. Chinese elms are a popular choice for both beginner and experienced bonsai practitioners. They are strong trees that respond well to pruning and can be kept either indoors or outdoors.
